I've got a buddy who paid $2k for a Colt AR a few months ago. At the time, he thought that was a great $2k investment. The price on ARs is dropping like rocks at the moment, because people are relaxing on the AWB fears.
That being said, it is a great price for a Colt AR now....just pointing out that it will likely cost even less a month from now.

They are not going to drop much more. The guns are getting really close to June 2008 prices. So you might be able to get this for $50 less in a few months, but is it worth the wait?
Generally, I believe that it’s a rifle that designed to shoot a bit (or a lot) more accurately than your regular AR15 for shooting competition purposes. This may be accomplished by having some or all of the following: heavier barrels (possibly with the addition of counter-weights in the stock to offset the added barrel weight), free floating barrels, special match triggers, special match sights and other features to juice up the accuracy. But there are limits to what adaptations can be made and still qualify as a "service rifle" for purposes of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. See http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/M16.htm for the CMP rules.
In for 1, I almost got a cheapo AR15 from a local gun show a few weeks ago for $599 and was seriously thinking of getting one of them at the next show in December. Thanks OP

Yep, the magazines used are required to be blocked at a 10round limit (IIRC).
Not legal in Cali unless pre-ban (again, IIRC).
Am I correct in assuming that regular magazines will work in this rifle, and that the 10 rd mag is only to make it legal to sell to jurisdictions which require the shortened mag?
I aware, generally speaking, of what 'Competition' means. My point was that the word was spelled incorrectly in every one of the rifle listings on that page....
